Adam LaRoche’s Surprise Announcement

Quote of the Day

Adam Eaton on the makeup of the 2016 White Sox (via USA Today):

“I’ve never been around a more diverse group of athletes. You got a mafia guy (he was kidding, of course) in Todd Frazier. He’s got that smooth demeanor, but it can be loud and get guys going. You got a guy like Lawrie, who’s going to bring constant passion and fire to the game. You got J-Roll, who’s not rah-rah but brings that energy. And you got Avila. I call him the general because he’s calm, cool and leads by example. It’s crazy how diverse it is in here, but it works.’’

Tomorrow’s Schedule

Off Day. On Friday, White Sox vs. Cubs at Camelback Ranch-Glendale (3:05 p.m. CT, WLS Radio).

Eaton’s wife Katie was the guest analyst for yesterday’s telecast of Sox-Dodgers alongside play-by-play man Russ Langer.

Unfortunately Avila’s example at the plate may be a below-the-Mendoza-line average with an occasional walk and very little power.
