Today’s Spring Training News

This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Dodgers at Camelback Ranch-Glendale (3:05 p.m. CT, CSN, WLS). Chris Sale is scheduled to make his first Cactus League start and will face three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw in a battle of baseball’s best. Also scheduled to pitch for the Sox are Tommy Kahnle, Zach Putnam, Matt Lollis, Tyler Danish and Matt Purke.

Yesterday’s Highlights

John Danks pitched a masterful five innings, allowing a lone hit with seven strikeouts for the win in the Sox’ 3-2 victory over the Cubs at CR-G…David Robertson, Matt Albers and Nate Jones each pitched a perfect inning with Jones closing it out in the ninth for the save…Avi Garcia singled in a run for his 12th Cactus League RBI and Austin Jackson and Tim Anderson each recorded a sac fly.

“Like I said all along, we’re all competitive and all have pride and all want to do well. But most of us that have been around understand that there’s a bigger picture to Spring Training, and it’s a good opportunity to get out there and work on something that will help you during the summer. Of course, it feels good to go out there and have a successful outing and throw the ball where you want, and it’s just a step in the right direction.”
