This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Twins at Target Field, Minneapolis (12:10 p.m. CT, CSN) as the Sox go for the sweep in the finale of the three-game series and for their fourth win in a row overall. Starting Pitchers: RHP Mat Latos (1-0, 0.00) for the Sox, RHP Ervin Santana (0-0, 2.25) for Minnesota.

Latos is set to make his second start of the season. He earned the win in his Sox debut on April 7 at Oakland, allowing just one hit over six scoreless innings. He retired 11 straight batters from the first to the fifth inning.

Last Night’s Highlights

The White Sox won their third straight game with a 3-0 shutout over the Twins on the strength of another strong performance by Carlos Rodon, a two-run homer by Jerry Sands and another air-tight bullpen effort…Rodon (1-1, 1.38) tossed six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and five walks along with six strikeouts (click on top link below)…Sands, making the start as the DH, clouted his first homer, a two-run blow, with the Sox holding a slim 1-0 lead (click on bottom link)…Nate Jones and David Robertson were perfect in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively, with Robertson earning his fourth save in as many tries…Melky Cabrera and Brett Lawrie each singled and doubled and Jimmy Rollns added a pair of base hits.
