This Afternoon’s Game
White Sox vs. Angels at U.S. Cellular Field (1:10 p.m. CT, WGN) in the third game of the four-game series. Starting Pitchers: LHP Chris Sale (3-0, 2.35) for the Sox, RHP Garrett Richards (0-2, 3.57) for L.A.
Sale is set to make his fourth start of the season. In his previous three outings, he struck out 23 with a .181 opponents average. He earned the win in his last start on April 15, tossing the second complete-game shutout of his career and striking out nine.
Chris is 4-0 with a 1.64 ERA, 41 strikeouts and a .158 opponents average in seven career games vs. the Angels. He has gone 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA, 14 strikeouts and a .111 opponents average in two starts vs. L.A. at USCF.
Last Night’s Highlights
Mat Latos continued his brilliant mound work, Todd Frazier and Jose Abreu each belted their third homers, Melky Cabrera tripled in a pair, Brett Lawrie collected an RBI single and the bullpen came through in stellar fashion as the Sox posted a 5-0 victory over the Angels…Latos is now 3-0 with an 0.49 ERA in his first three starts…Matt Albers, who came on and finished the seventh inning for Latos, extended his career-high scoreless appearance streak to 27 and consecutive innings pitched total to 30. Both are the longest active in baseball and his IP streak is the longest by a Sox player since Wilson Alvarez threw 31 in 1993…Nate Jones pitched a perfect eighth and ninth for his first career save…With the Sox up 2-0 in the seventh, Adam Eaton fired a perfect throw to Dioner Navarro and cut off Andrelton Simmons at the plate to preserve the shutout.

The Sox bullpen is 1-0 with a 1.60 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 2016.

RHP Erik Johnson was recalled from Class AAA Charlotte and OF J.B. Shuck was optioned to the Knights. The Sox will go with 13 pitchers at least through the current homestand with Johnson working out of the pen.
