The White Sox maintain their five-game lead over the Indians in the American League Central. The Sox’ 24-13 record (.649) is second only to the Orioles’ 23-12 (.657) in the A.L.
This Afternoon’s Game
White Sox vs. Yankees at Yankee Stadium (12:05 p.m. CT, WGN) in the finale of the three-game series and six-game road trip. Starting Pitchers: RHP Miguel Gonzalez (0-0, 4.91) for the Sox, RHP Masahiro Tanaka (1-0, 3.11) for New York.
Jose Quintana (5-2, 1.54) was on his game once again, allowing just two runs, five hits and a pair of walks along with five strikeouts in the Sox’ 2-1 loss to the Yankees. Jose now has an MLB-high eight starts this season with two or fewer earned runs allowed. He was previously tied with the Dodgers’ three-time N.L. Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw…Todd Frazier accounted for the Sox’ run with a fourth-inning solo homer, his 12th (click on link below):
