By virtue of yesterday’s thrilling 3-2 win over the Royals in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd of 34,526, the White Sox increased their lead over the Indians to 2.5 games in the American League Central. The Sox and the Tribe are set to begin a four-game series today on the South Side with a doubleheader.

Game 1 (4:10 p.m. CT, CSN). Starting Pitchers: RHP Mat Latos (5-1, 4.00) for the Sox, RHP Mike Clevinger (0-0, 6.75) for the Tribe.
Game 2 (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN). Starting Pitchers: RHP Erik Johnson (0-1, 7.20) for the Sox, RHP Cody Anderson (0-3. 7.99) for Cleveland.
Melky Cabrera‘s bases-loaded single brought in the tying and winning runs in the fifth inning (click on top link below) and Todd Frazier belted his 13th homer, a solo shot in the fourth (click on bottom link), as the Sox prevailed…Carlos Rodon won his second game of the season with a quality start, tossing 6.2 innings and allowing just a pair of runs…The bullpen finished it off with 2.1 innings of perfect baseball thanks to Matt Albers (0.1 IP), Zach Duke (0.1), Nate Jones (0.2) and David Robertson (1.0), who earned his 11th save.

The White Sox are now 8-3 vs. the A.L. Central this season…The Sox boast a 2.27 ERA with eight quality starts vs. their division foes…Rodon owns a 5-1 record with a 1.94 ERA and 46 strikeouts in eight career starts (seven quality) vs. the Central…Jones has tossed nine consecutive scoreless outings (9.0 IP) at home. He has made 17 scoreless appearances vs the Royals (17.1 IP) since 2012…Cabrera has hit safely in 15 consecutive contests vs. Kansas City, which is the longest active streak in the majors vs. the world champions. Melky is also batting .338 with six doubles, one triple, 10 RBI, seven walks and nine runs scored in May…Adam Eaton owns a nine-game hitting streak (.342). He is batting .338 with three doubles, three triples, one homer and eight RBI over his last 16 games…Frazier collected his 11th multi-hit game of the season.
