Today’s News

Tonight’s Game

White Sox vs. Blue Jays at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN+) in the opener of a three-game series and six-game homestand that continues with three vs. the Twins. Starting Pitchers: LHP Carlos Rodon (2-6, 4.16) for the Sox, RHP Aaron Sanchez (7-1, 3.35) for Toronto.

Yesterday’s Highlights

The White Sox were this close to sweeping the Red Sox in a four-game series in Boston for the first time since 1927, but it wasn’t meant to be and our Sox dropped an 8-7, back and forth, 10-inning battle in the series finale at Fenway Park.

Offensively, Jose Abreu belted his 11th homer, a three-run blast in the seventh inning that gave the Sox a temporary 7-5 advantage…Alex Avila pounded out four singles and Abreu, Tim Anderson, Adam Eaton and Brett Lawrie had two hits apiece. Anderson and Eaton also scored twice…Todd Frazier and J.B. Shuck each added an RBI…Melky Cabrera tripled and scored.

Starter James Shields took a step in the right direction, allowing three runs in five innings of work.
