Today’s News

This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Angels at Angels Stadium, Anaheim (2:35 p.m. CT, WGN) in the finale of the three-game series. Starting Pitchers: RHP Jacob Turner (pictured above), making his first start of the season for the Sox after being recalled from Class AAA Charlotte, vs. RHP Jered Weaver (7-7, 5.27) for L.A.

Last Night’s Highlights

James Shields couldn’t have been much better last night in the Sox’ tough 1-0 loss to the Angels. The Halos’ Yunel Escobar collected a leadoff triple in the first inning and scored what would be the game’s only run on a Mike Trout ground out. Shields didn’t allow another hit until he gave up a double to Ji-man Choi with one out in the eighth. In all, the Sox right-hander (pictured below) tossed a two-hit, complete game and in his last five starts he has recorded an impressive 2.43 ERA in 33.1 innings.
