Last Night’s Highlights

Jose Quintana earned his eighth win, Brett Lawrie (12) and Melky Cabrera (9) belted solo homers and Todd Frazier (27) slammed a two-run shot as the Sox got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 6-1 victory over the Mariners.

Q allowed just one run on six hits and struck out seven in six strong innings. Zach Duke (1.0 IP), Nate Jones (1.1) and rookie Carson Fulmer (0.2) came on and pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

J.B. Shuck went 3-for-4 with an RBI, Dioner Navarro doubled in a run and Tim Anderson collected a pair of base hits.

This Afternoon’s Game

White Sox vs. Mariners at Safeco Field (2:40 p.m. CT, CSN) in the finale of the three-game series and six-game road trip. Starting Pitchers: RHP Miguel Gonzalez (2-5, 4.40) for the Sox, RHP Felix Hernandez (4-4, 2.86) for the M’s.

Gonzalez makes his 14th start, 10th on the road and fourth career vs. Seattle. He has a victory with a 2.25 ERA over his last three starts.

“We’ve been in, I think, all but one game so far since we’ve been back. So it’s good to finally get this one out of the way and kind of be able to relax again and hopefully get back on a roll.”

Sox Notes of Note

With his 27th homer last night, Frazier is one behind the MLB leader Mark Trumbo of the Orioles…the Sox have four of their own first-round picks on the current roster: Fulmer (2015), Carlos Rodon (2014), Anderson (2013) and Chris Sale (2010)…Anderson has hit safely in 23 of his 33 career games (15 multi-hit)…Anderson and Adam Eaton have combined to hit .293 with 15 doubles, three triples, seven homers, 22 RBI and 38 runs scored in 29 games since being moved to the top two spots in the lineup on June 13…The Good Guys have hit 31 home runs runs over the last 24 games since June 21.

White Sox vs. Tigers at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the opener of a four-game series and six-game homestand that continues with two vs. the Cubs next Monday and Tuesday.
