Last Night’s Highlights
Todd Frazier‘s two-run single tied the game in the seventh inning and his base hit won it in the ninth as the Sox came from behind to move past the Mariners, 7-6, in dramatic walk-off fashion at U.S. Cellular Field.
With the Sox trailing 6-3, J.B. Shuck opened the seventh by reaching on an error. With one out, Adam Eaton walked, followed by Tim Anderson‘s third hit, a ground-rule double, that scored Shuck and sent Eaton to third. With two outs, Frazier singled to left, scoring both Eaton and Anderson to tie the score at 6-6.
In the ninth, Eaton singled, Anderson moved him to second on a sac bunt and Jose Abreu was intentionally walked setting the stage for Frazier’s game-winner that plated Eaton.
The Sox scored three in the first to take a 3-2 lead on singles by Eaton, Anderson, Abreu (RBI) Avi Garcia (RBI ) and Justin Morneau and a sac fly by Dioner Navarro.
In all, the Sox pounded out 11 hits. Anderson led the way with three, Eaton, Abreu and Frazier added two apiece.
Dan Jennings (1.1 IP), Matt Albers (0.1), Nate Jones (1.0) and David Robertson (1.0) pitched scoreless ball in relief of Anthony Ranaudo. Robertson, who pitched the ninth, earned his fourth win.

White Sox vs. Mariners at USCF (7:10 p.m. CT, WGN) in the second game of the four-game set. Starting Pitchers: LHP Chris Sale (15-6, 3.15) for the Sox and RHP Felix Hernandez (8-4, 3.26) for the Mariners in a battle of two of the game’s premier hurlers.
Sale will be making his 25th start, 11th at home and second vs. Seattle. He won his 15th game of the season in his last start on August 20 against the A’s. He tossed eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in the 6-2 Sox win.
The All-Star lefty got a no decision in his first start vs. the Mariners on July 18 with eight scoreless innings. He is 4-0, 2.22 with 60 Ks in eight games (six starts) lifetime vs. Seattle.
Chris is 22-5 with a 2.27 ERA and 279 strikeouts in 44 career appearances (31 starts) vs. the American League West.

The White Sox recorded their sixth walk-off of the season…The Sox have won four of their last five games overall and nine of 15 at U.S. Cellular Field…Frazier recorded his fifth career walk-off hit…Abreu extended his hitting streak to eight games, tying a season high. He is batting .393 with a double, three homers and six RBI during the streak….He is hitting .382 with four doubles, six home runs and 15 RBI over his last 19 games…Anderson is batting .325 with seven doubles, a triple, two home runs, nine RBI, five walks and 17 runs scored over his last 22 games (seven multi-hit)…Eaton has reached base safely in 15 of his last 17 games, batting .329 with a double, triple, three home runs and seven RBI (seven multi-hit).
