Play(s) of the Day
Down 4-0 last night to the Yankees, Gordon Beckman’s third homer of the season in the fifth inning off of C.C. Sabathia, a solo blast, put the Sox on the board…We made it 4-3 in the seventh with three consecutive hits–singles by Alejandro De Aza and Alex Rios and a run-scoring double by Paul Konerko–and a Beckham fielder’s choice that scored Rios…With two outs in the ninth against Mariano Rivera, Beckham doubled and scored the tying run on an Adam Dunn pinch-hit single to the opposite field. It was only Rivera’s third blown save of 2013…Behind 5-4 as a result of Robinson Cano’s solo homer in the top of the 12th, we started our game-winning rally in the bottom of the inning–again with two outs. Tyler Flowers reached base on an infield hit, Alexei Ramirez followed with a single, sending Flowers to third. Then, the walk-off clincher–De Aza’s triple that scored both baserunners for the 6-5 win and three-game sweep. Enjoy the link:

Did You Know…
…that the White Sox swept the Yankees in back-to-back series of at least three games for just the second time in franchise history and first in 100 years? And that the Sox have won six straight games against New York for their longest streak against the Yanks since July 1, 1990-April 16, 1991 (seven).
…that the White Sox have now won four in a row at home–against such elite starting pitchers as Justin Verlander, Andy Pettitte, Hiroki Kuroda and CC Sabathia? And you might want to throw in closer Rivera in the mix for good measure (courtesy of @soxnerd).
