Thome, who played in Charlotte in 1993 when it was an Indians affiliate, hit a league-best .332 with 25 home runs and 102 RBI on his way to winning the International League Most Valuable Player award. He helped the Knights win a franchise-record 86 games that year and win the first Governor’s Cup championship in team history.
