A Wish Come True

Seven-year-old Mason Earley had his Make-a-Wish granted to meet Abreu before last night’s game. Add Sale, Eaton and Alexei Ramirez to the mix and it was quite a day for Mason. Sale gave the youngster his gloves and sunglasses and told him to “wear them proud.”

“I haven’t done anything aggressive yet. I’ll pick up a bat in two days and take some swings. If that feels good, we will move on from there. I’d like to get out there this weekend but if that doesn’t work, I plan to get out there for the road trip.”

Quote of the Day

Wilkins on getting his chance in the major leagues (via Colleen Kane in the Trib):

“The game’s still the same, but guys are obviously a lot sharper up here. I believe I’m capable of doing well at this level. I know it’s not quite as amped up as it is during the season, but I’ve hit off big-league pitchers in spring training. Obviously it’s different, but I’m just going to adjust, and with time, getting more ABs will help that process.”
