Continuing its seventh season, the Game Changers series, presented by Modelo Especial® and Saint Xavier University, empowers underrepresented communities in sports by welcoming photographers to capture a White Sox game through their own perspective.

In honor of Women’s Equality Day, the organization invited Mackenzie Hudson to be the series’ ninth featured photographer.

Born in Southern California and raised in Northern Idaho, Hudson moved to Chicago this year to become the organization’s assistant photographer.

“Being the featured photographer on Women’s Equality Day is an incredible feeling,” said Hudson. “Knowing that I get to not only represent women, but women in sports is an absolute honor. The number of women in the majors is ever-growing, so being featured on a day like today just goes to show that women belong here, and we’re just as deserving of these opportunities.

“Growing up in a family full of avid sports fans, they have been incredibly supportive throughout my career. They’ve celebrated me every step of the way and are so proud I can be the featured photographer today.”

Hudson is looking forward to capturing the personalities of the players on the field. She believes that you can capture the true essence of their character when they’re letting things come naturally.

“I want to see the guys be themselves,” said Hudson. “I want to capture the good vibes in the dugout, the smiles on the field, dancing during pregame, celebrations, you name it.”

Embracing new challenges and chasing after your dreams often requires the courage to step out of your comfort zone. That’s exactly what Hudson did after leaving her job with the National Football League’s Los Angeles Chargers to join the White Sox staff.

“Don’t be afraid of rejection,” said the 24-year-old. “Always ask, because the worst they could say is no, and you’ll never know who will say yes. Put yourself out there, step out of your comfort zone, and show others what you can do.”
