Garrett Crochet pitches in tonight’s game vs. Atlanta Braves

Garrett Crochet returned to the mound after a spectacular performance on Opening Day. The White Sox faced former White Sox pitcher, Reynaldo Lopez, and the Atlanta Braves. Garrett Crochet struck out 8 and earned his 100th career strikeout.

The strong pitching performance by Garrett Crochet was coupled with a great defensive grab in the top of the fourth to get Ozzie Albies out at first.

The White Sox bats came alive in the bottom of the 6th when Andrew Benintendi led off the inning with a bunt single followed by a Yoán Moncada walk. Luis Robert Jr. hit a long fly ball that advanced Benintendi to third. Gavin Sheets hit a bloop single to score Benintendi and give the White Sox the lead, 1–0.

Marcell Ozuna hit a solo home run to tie the game for the Braves in the top of the 7th.

Paul DeJong came in the game to pinch hit for Braden Shewmake and hit a solo home run to give the White Sox back the lead.

Michael Kopech worked his way out of a bases loaded jam by forcing Austin Riley to hit into an inning ending double play led by Yoán Moncada.

Luis Robert Jr. hit a double to the gap in the bottom of the 8th inning followed by a Gavin Sheets walk. Andrew Vaughn hit a RBI single to score Luis Robert Jr. The White Sox extended the lead 3–1.

Marcell Ozuna hit his second solo home run of the night in the top of the 9th to cut the White Sox lead to 3–2.

Michael Kopech earned his first career save to give the White Sox their first win of the season.

The White Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves, 3–2, at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois on April 2, 2024.
