What to Know for the Upcoming Homestand

The White Sox will kick off a six-game homestand on Friday, jam-packed with promotional giveaways, theme nights and special appearances for series vs. the Oakland Athletics and the Houston Astros from August 9 through August 14 at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The upcoming homestand is highlighted by Harold Baines Day & a Harold Baines Hall of Fame Replica Plaque giveaway, presented by Xfinity, for the first 20,000 fans on Sunday, August 11 vs. Oakland. The White Sox will honor Baines and his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame with a pregame ceremony. Special guests scheduled to appear include Jim Thome, Carlton Fisk, Tim Raines, Ozzie Guillen, Ron Kittle, Tony La Russa, Jim Leyland and Ken “Hawk” Harrelson. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. The real Hall of Fame plaque from Cooperstown will be on display in section 157 for fans to see. Fans can receive a Harold Baines Hall of Fame pin by checking in through the MLB Ballpark app at the Revolution Brewing #SoxSocial Tap Room.

Special Appearances

  • Former USA Softball player Jennie Finch will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday, August 9 vs. Oakland. Finch was an All-American pitcher for the University of Arizona, where she won the 2001 Women’s College World Series. Finch is a two-time Olympic medal winner with Team USA, winning the gold medal in 2004 and the silver medal in 2008.
  • Actor and comedian Lil Rel Howery will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday, August 9 vs. Oakland. Howery is a Chicago native and starred in NBC’s 2015 sitcom The Carmichael Show. He’s also appeared in the films Get Out and Bird Box.
  • Singer and songwriter BJ the Chicago Kid will perform the National Anthem and throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Monday, August 12 vs. Houston. BJ is a Chicago native and just released his new studio album, 1123 on July 26.
  • Illinois native and entrepreneur Cole Bennett will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Tuesday, August 13 vs. Houston. Bennett is the founder of the Chicago-based music promotion and event coordination company “Lyrical Lemonade.” Bennett has directed numerous music videos for up and coming hip-hop artists that have generated over 3.5 billion views on YouTube.
  • Chicago native and fashion designer Joe Fresh Goods will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Wednesday, August 14 vs, Houston. Joe created his own clothing line “Don’t Be Mad” and is the owner of Fat Tiger Workshop, a popular clothing store in Chicago. Joe has collaborated with big-time brands such as Nike and McDonalds, and has his own featured window display at the Niketown store in Chicago. His clothing is popular with local celebrities such as Chance the Rapper and Malia Obama.

Themes and Promotions

Fans will be treated to a “Field of Dreams” Post-Game Movie Screening, presented by Securian Financial on Friday, August 9 vs. Oakland. The film will be shown on the centerfield videoboard and is scheduled to begin shortly after the conclusion of the game.

The first 20,000 fans who enter the ballpark on Saturday, August 10 vs. Oakland will receive an Eloy Jiménez First MLB Home Run Bobblehead, presented by Guaranteed Rate.

Chi Sox Bar & Grill is the official post-game headquarters of the Chicago White Sox. After every home game, Chi Sox Bar & Grill offers ½ priced appetizers to all fans! There will be a post-game party on Saturday, August 10.

Coca-Cola Family Sunday will take place on August 11 vs. Oakland. Kid-friendly activities include kids running the bases postgame (weather permitting), face painters, balloon artists and a caricature artist. Tickets are available for as low as $5 in the Upper Level and $15 in the Lower Level with $10 parking. Tickets and additional information are available at whitesox.com/Sundays.

The sixth Kids’ Autograph Session, presented by Coca-Cola, will take place on Sunday, August 11. The first 125 kids (ages 13 and under) who enter the ballpark through the Chicago Sports Depot entrance (located near parking Lot B and Gate 5) at 11:15 a.m. will be given a wristband and directed to a special area for the autograph session. A regular game ticket is required to participate. Information, including future dates, is available at whitesox.com/autographs.

Sox Split Guaranteed Jackpot: On Sunday, August 11, Chicago White Sox Charities Sox Split 50/50 Raffle, presented by Wintrust, will start with a guaranteed jackpot of $50,000. Tickets are available for purchase from sellers throughout the ballpark, 100 and 500-level kiosks and online at whitesox.com/soxsplit until the end of the 6th inning. NIU Day will take place on Sunday, August 11. Fans can purchase specially priced ticket packages at whitesox.com/niu, which includes a pregame Patio buffet, Lower Box game ticket, and a White Sox branded NIU hat.

The White Sox will celebrate Navy Night on Tuesday, August 13 vs. Houston. Specially priced tickets are available at whitesox.com/navy to all past and present military personnel to support the newest members of the Navy as they are sworn in on the field prior to the game.

The White Sox are making extra Illini jerseys available on Tuesday, August 13 vs. Houston for fans that were not able to make it out for the original Illini Night in May. Fans that purchase a specially priced Lower Box ticket at whitesox.com/illini will be guaranteed an XL Illini Night Jersey.

Dollar Hot Dog Wednesday, presented by Securian Financial, takes place on August 14 vs. Houston. The popular large and juicy Vienna Beef premium hot dogs will be available for $1 at Guaranteed Rate Field’s concession stands on the 100 and 500-level concourses and in-seat vending as well as club level concessions. There will be a limit of four per person per concession visit, while supplies last.
